Dark Knight revisited…

I can only imagine the amount of hatemail I will recieve, but I just got finished seeing “The Dark Knight” for the third time (hey I’m a nerd) and I am really trying to see why people are saying it was better than Marvel’s “Iron Man” movie.

1. Christian Bale’s Batman IS the weak link in this movie. I was actually bored with him in this movie and just waited around for the Joker to make things interesting. His voice as Batman sounds lame, I know that he’s trying to disguise his voice, but does he have to sound like a barking dog through the whole flick?

2. They destroy the Tumbler, and he has a “Batpod” which is fine I guess, but be careful, too many gadgets and we revert to the ninties Batman movie disasters.

3. New suit= memories of lame 90’s Batman movies

4. Two Face is burned… his face looks good, but it’s TOO straight lined down the middle. Fire doesnt burn like that. Also his suit he wears is too symettrical… come on… If you’re gonna do something, dont do it half assed, use your whole ass. Two Face could have been a lot cooler.

5. The Joker wore makeup. When I first saw the previews, I was excited, I thought it would be like a chemical burn… similar to the comics, but no… looks like make up. Creepy yes, but make up.

6. I know Heath Ledger has passed. I know the Joker was a great character, but honestly… Half of America would not have given a damn if the guy from that “cowboy movie” hadnt had died a tabloid death.

Look, It was a fine movie, hell I saw it 3 times, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves and say it was better than “Iron Man”. Marvel did the unthinkable. They took a comic character who I blame indirectly for Captain America’s death, they took an actor I did not want to see, and made a hell of a movie. Marvel has there stuff together with their “Lucas” approach of keeping all their rights to their movies now (after learning their lessons) and DC needs to do that to get some consistency.

Anyway… Just had to get that off my chest.

MMO blues..

Filed under: Games, Star Wars, mmorpg, www.busygamer.com — crutchboy @ 6:51 am

I have been known in the past to indulge myself in the RPG world. Here and there, off and on, I grew up through my teens with a guitar in one hand and a dice bag in the other. My weekend luggage for a sleep over consisted of my Washburn single coil and a backpack of tattered D&D books.

I miss some good mmo/rpgs. I did the Warcraft thing, to the point that i have 3.9 level 70’s which in turn means i dont have that much of a life. Not that it matters so much, games are what you make em, sometimes its a big part of your life anyhow, ohh yeah we write this sh*t i forgot.

Anyhow, im ready for some new soul grabbing butt kickin role player or mmo that i dont feel compelled to invest like 6 hrs a day to get my 15 bucks/month fee worth of fun out of it.

Does it exist? Or will it?

I have hope for Star Wars : KOTOR for 2009.

I still will dabble in some WoW im sure later on.

I fired up my old Star Wars Galaxies account for the free reactiivation month (they are trying hard now arnt they..)

Mass Effect still (and im sure will always) continue to fascinate me…

So i have a few guns left to tide me over till I get see at PAX08 whats in store for 2009 and on…

Alot to be excited about i hope…yup.

E3 2008: EA CEO confirms Knights of the Old Republic MMO

Filed under: Games, Star Wars, www.busygamer.com — crutchboy @ 9:03 pm

www.gamespot.com

Ever since it was announced in 2006, BioWare’s massively multiplayer role-playing game has been shrouded in mystery. Though the Canadian developer opened a satellite studio in Austin, Texas, just to develop it, its cofounders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk maintained an iron wall of silence. However, Electronic Arts knew enough about the title to help convince the company to buy BioWare/Pandemic for $860 million last year.

Today, as E3 2008 wound down, the fog hanging around BioWare’s MMORPG appears to have dissipated. Less than 72 hours after presiding over EA’s own press event–where the project was nowhere to be found–CEO John Riccitiello almost casually revealed the MMORPG in question is a sequel of sorts to Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

“We’ve got two of the most compelling MMOs in the industry in development”, Riccitiello told Conde Nast Portfolio magazine.” The first title, based on the Warhammer property, will launch soon. And the one that people are dying for us to talk to them about in partnership with Lucas [Arts is] coming out of BioWare, which is, I think, quite possibly the most anticipated game, full stop, for the industry. When contacted by GameSpot, BioWare reps declined to comment further.

BioWare’s first Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic game was released in 2003 for the original Xbox and PC, and was named the year’s top RPG by GameSpot. An Obsidian Entertainment-developed sequel was released in 2004 and 2005 on the same two respective platforms. Both critically acclaimed games are set several thousand years before the events of the Star Wars films, and cast players as adventurers who eventually become powerful Jedi Knights.

Currently, the Knights of the Old Republic MMORPG is set for release sometime in 2009. Once it launches, it is unclear what will happen to LucasArts’ current massively multiplayer title, the Sony Online Entertainment-developed Star Wars Galaxies.

E3 P2

Hey guys! Your pal, punk rock josh is back with some more E3 coverage!!!

Let’s Do It!!!

ROCK BAND 2

It’s back and it’s exclusive to XBOX360! Rock Band’s “encore” is going to be right up there with Guitar Hero World Tour with the fact that there will be over 80 Master tracks that will include a debut track from the first recording of Guns ‘N’ Roses in over 14 years from the HIGHLY anticipated album, Chinese Democracy!!! WOW! Finally, the most requested band AC/DC also gets in on the Rock Band fun! This was cool: most of the tracks from Rock Band will be able to be exported into Rock Band 2 so you don’t have to keep changing discs! Guitar Hero could use something like that… And the biggest news, with Harmonix publishing more and more master tracks every week, by the holidays of this year, there will be over 500 songs available to play on Rock Band 2!!!!! That. Is. Epic!

XBOX360 DASHBOARD GETS A MAKEOVER

Not much to say about this one. The video will explain everything much better. But this fall, we can expect big changes on our 360s!

WHO YA GONNA CALL?

Haha! Good stuff! From the original writers and featuring the original cast! Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis & Ernie Hudson are back! This time in virtual reality! Enjoy!

5 LONG YEARS

We got Harvest back… but could not hold.

Alrighty!

That may be all for today. E3 will continue throughout the week and you can guarantee I’ll be covering all the tight stuff! I’ve heard rumors about a big announcement from Microsoft’s partner in crime, BUNGIE! Their website’s even all stranged out with a count down on it! I’m excited!

Stay tuned!

EDIT: I’ve just checked in with www.bungie.net, and it looks as though they were going to share with us exciting news about a project they’ve been working on.  However, it would appear as though their publisher would like to hold off for just a bit longer.  So sorry, but it looks like we won’t receive any exciting news from them just yet :(

E3… nuff said.

With the biggest event in video games currently underway, I’ve been busy today checkin out all the badass stuff headin our way in the world of video games!

First really cool feature i saw today: (let me apologize beforehand about the videos. i went on youtube to search for the vids I saw on the E3 site, but the youtube video quality kinda sucks, but you get the idea!)

Microsoft Partners with NETFLIX!

That’s right. Anyone with a current subscription to XBOX LIVE and Netflix will be able to access their NETFLIX account to watch movies and TV shows straight from their 360! And that’s not the coolest part. To me, the coolest thing is that you can gather a group of your XBOX LIVE friends and all get together in a live party to watch movies together! How cool is that! Man… I need to get NETFLIX!

FINAL FANTASY XIII

I don’t even know where to begin. These games have come a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way. I remember playing FF: Mystic Quest on my Super Nintendo waaaay back in the day. It was my first FF game I had ever played. After that, I lost track of it pretty quickly until the Playstation came out and along with it, FF VII-FF IX. I never got around to playing VII as one day back when my brother and I would get to rent a game for the weekend he picked up FF VIII and I got hooked! Sure the graphics weren’t great in game play but the cinematics I thought, were pretty awesome for that time frame. I got into FF IX soon after and then finally the most anticipated FF X. Where for the first time, we finally didn’t have to read every single line of scrolling text and got to sit back and watch scenes unravel with talking characters! I love FF X and still to this day haven’t beat it but I’m very close… Just very lazy… Now, after another long break (because I haven’t touched FFX-2 through FF XII) I need to get back in the game with FF XIII. I just watched the trailer and it looks absolutely amazing. I do actually think I got some game-play in on FF XII but I didn’t like the way it was set up so I put it down. But the game-play on the new FF XIII is a visual orgasm… oh yeah… I said it.

Cant’ wait!

GUITAR HERO: WORLD TOUR

w00t! What more can I say, I LOVE Guitar Hero! And the latest installment is gonna be awesome! With more than 80 master tracks alone PLUS more to Download at launch INCLUDING THE ENTIRE NEW METALLICA ALBUM, Death Magnetic, this installment is gonna be off the chizzain! Online Co-Op careers, Online 4v4 Battles, RECORDING studios will even give the chance to aspiring musicians to track their own works into the game! The wait is gonna kill me!

I feel sorry for the guy in this video… He wasn’t a very good speaker and sounded scared to death. But I suppose he did a good job explaining things…

OK!

I’d love to put it all in one post, but I wanna save some for more so that I can contribute more later!

Stay tuned! More to come within the next couple of hours!

Clones are coming…

Filed under: Movies & TV, Star Wars, www.busygamer.com — crutchboy @ 1:27 am

Clone Wars Movie
If you have not visited StarWars.com lately, you really need to drop by and see some of the fantastic things they have going on there. Several trailers of the feature new film “Star Wars : Clone Wars” are posted on the site and they are truly amazing. In the past after Episode III, I actually thought I would never get that excited feeling of going to see a new Star Wars flick for the rest of my lifetime. This movie looks unbelievable. The art is smokin, the lightsaber duels seem so much like live action that it doesn’t even give the “aura” of an animated product. Maybe it is because of alot of the CG work from the last three films that I’ve become accustomed to some flashy non-puppeteered critters that appeared in the original ‘un redone’ versions of IV, V, and VI.

Whatever it is, it gives me chills, call me lame but I almost feel like it’s gonna be like a first date, a first kiss, and well…haha. I can’t wait.

Opening August 15,2008. Mark your calendars. Bust out your movies, study up. It’s gonna rock.

Let’s Get On The Road Again…

I was going to get up early this morning, to see if I could wait in line at an ATT store to buy the new 3G IPHONE

Buuut, I ended up staying out at fellow blogger punkrockjosh’s place and we watched punk rock tour documentaries. So it looks like I won’t be waking up too early after all.

I was going to go into this whole thing about how excited I am about the apps and improvements of the IPHONE and how it is a pretty handy gaming device too, but instead I’ll just say you should probably watch a good documentary about a band you already like (or sort of like) it beats reality TV any day.
